Daring to be unfashionable

The image of the Christian soldier used to be quite prominent in Christian thought, art and music. Fighting the good fight meant being willing to stand up and proclaim the Risen Lord, come what may.  The Christian soldier proclaimed a willingness to follow in the footsteps of the Saviour and strive to conquer this world for the Gospel.

In recent years, however, we've become rather sensitive to images of militant Christianity, with the result that the soldier motif has become anathema to large parts of the Christian world.  Instead, there is now an increased focus on turning the other cheek, which in turn, has led to the development of a Christianity that strives mightily to be as inoffensive as possible.  

The result is an anaesthetised Christianity, one that refuses to stand up for its own principles in the face of the never-ending onslaught of malice and ridicule from the secular culture.  Indeed, Christians have become increasingly willing to hide, rather than fight.  And, it's now reached the point where most Christians --- especially those in the churches --- no longer take Christianity seriously. 

This blog seeks to proudly reclaim the image of the Christian soldier and fight back against the prevailing culture of hedonism and death that is the hallmark of the society in which we live.  If, therefore, some are offended by the image of the Christian soldier, so be it.  This blog seeks to offend. Deliberately.  It aims to combat Satan in this world, and makes no apologies if his minions are a bit put out.
